Now moving into the second test phase we need to trial a wider selection of herbs and micro greens using the substrate that we will use in the full roll out. Hemp. So we have expanded to our second test site and set up a 100 m2 test area with white reflective material lining the walls and painted the floor white, all this preparation was done under Chris’s guidance and used to maximise the reflection of LEDs and enhance the light spectrum. Although it looks like we are creating a Bond-villains lair we are creating the perfect environment for nothing more world threatening than growing tasty salad.
With the help of Tim and his team and a bundle of equipment we went about building five benches (20 m2) and creating a growing area that replicates how we eventually plan to grow within the whole tunnel. The only difference is that for the full roll-out we would be growing on three layers rather than one.
